Sand's Wicker Foresees Solid Growth for the CompanyGeorge Wicker, who joined Sand Technology Inc this month as executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer of the Sand Technology group of companies, foresees solid growth for the company, thanks to its outstanding financial health and ongoing expansion of its sales team in both North America and Europe. Sand develops and markets the revolutionary and award winning Nucleus data warehousing solution which is available for the 64-bit Unix and the 32-bit Microsoft Windows NT and 95/98/2000 platforms, as well as the IBM AS/400. The Nucleus business intelligence solution extends enterprise applications based on leading Data Base Management Systems, including Oracle, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server. Antithesis to dot-com meltdown"Sand Technology is the antithesis to the dot-com meltdown," Wicker notes. "Sand has $26 million in the bank -- $2 for every share outstanding -- and is growing rather than shrinking. "We are hiring and training sales and support personnel to handle the increased interest in our Nucleus enterprise data warehousing solution from companies in the telecommunications, health care, transportation, entertainment, hospitality & travel industries, as well as the government sector. "We have the financial underpinnings to continue to build our infrastructure and to enhance our product. As our expanded sales team becomes productive, we will experience exponential sales growth in both Europe and North America," Wicker predicts. No stranger to Sand Technology, Wicker was president of Nucleus International Corporation from which Sand Technology purchased Nucleus in 1993. A member of the Sand Technology board of directors since 1996, he has helped shape strategic decisions as the company brought to market its revolutionary data warehousing solution. Wicker recently left Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he amassed 32 years of experience in high technology products and services (airplanes, software, computer services, missiles, lasers, satellites and launch vehicles). He held executive level positions in general management, program management and finance. For 15 years he had P&L responsibility for business units, developing strategic plans and playing key roles in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. "George Wicker's depth of management experience is both a timely addition to Sand when we are experiencing rapid growth, and an excellent complement to the existing management team," states Arthur Ritchie, president and CEO of Sand Technology. "Wicker not only has been involved in major aerospace programs, but also has significant IT industry experience. He has launched a successful software company (CADAM), managed two computer service companies through periods of triple-digit growth, and been involved in many mergers and acquisitions." Wicker holds a B.A. in Political Science, an MBA in Financial Management from the University of Santa Clara, and a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from Pepperdine University. He is a member in good standing of the California Bar Association.
