CoSORT Releases Version 7.5 of Sort/ETL Package

Innovative Routines International Inc (The CoSORT Company) announced a significant upgrade to its flagship sort/ETL package for all Unix and Windows platforms. Key developments include a more robust GUI that is Java-based for client-server design and execution, and significant enhancements to CoSORT's Sort Control Language (SortCL). SortCL is a high-level data definition and manipulation program for data warehouse transforms, loads, and reports. Current 7.1 CoSORT users under maintenance can upgrade to 7.5 without charge.

"Version 7.5 is the interim release that accelerates CoSORT's advantages in the sort/ETL market," according to David Friedland, IRI's vice president of Business Development. "CoSORT is the leader in sort-related functionality and these new features for Internet and international data manipulation demonstrate this commitment."

Clickstream Features

For eCRM and "data Webhouse" analysis of Web logs and Internet traffic, CoSORT 7.5 features direct collation and grouping of IP address data, metadata conversion for ELF files, support for manual HTML/SGML report encoding, and inner and outer joins to match "click-to-brick" transactions.

New Data Type, Conversion Support

CoSORT 7.5 now compares and collates between more than 100 data types, including signed numerics and multinational timestamps, plus many double-byte character sets, including Unicode's UTF-8.

Aggregation Features

In addition to CoSORT's support for cross-tabular calculations and drill-down min, max, average, sum, count, and sequence values, SortCL (CoSORT's Sort Control Language) users can now display running (accumulating) aggregate values, plus aggregates of cross-calculated values, and cross-calculated aggregate values.

Java GUI Improvements

Installation of the gui2scl application across all platforms has been standardized and simplified. "Tree" navigation, file browsing, in-context help, and support for new SortCL functionality are included.

Competitive Sort Replacement

CoSORT's new rescript program allows existing SyncSort Unix sort scripts in production to continue running with CoSORT's SortCL engine, removing lease expiry deadline pressure while improving speed and flexibility.
