LECCOTECH Announces New API Function Calls

LECCOTECH Inc announced the availability of a new set of application program interface (API) function calls that allows third-party program developers to easily interface with the company's LECCO SQL Expert and LECCO DB Expert structured query language (SQL) optimization programs.

The API functions are embedded in a single Windows dynamic link library (DLL) file that can be used within third-party software packages to automatically launch SQL tuning functions. These include scanning for problematic SQL statements within applications and databases, rewriting of optimized alternative SQL statements to replace the poor quality SQL, and formatting of SQL statements to standardize code.

"This new API allows developers to establish a communication channel between their application programs and our optimization toolsets that lets them automatically submit a SQL statement to LECCOTECH products for optimization and formatting -- without the user having to leave one program to work in the other," explained Richard To, senior vice president of research and development.

"Both LECCO SQL Expert and LECCO DB Expert can then return the resulting alternative SQL statement to the third party application for use within the third-party application.

"The API may also be used to make a database connection with LECCOTECH products so that users can transfer database objects, files or even application source code to our products for scanning to locate potentially problematic SQL code," he added.
