SPSS Ships SPSS Data Entry 3.0 for Linux and SolarisSPSS Data Entry 3.0, the latest version of the survey design and data collection software from SPSS Inc, is now available for the Linux and Sun Solaris platforms. SPSS Data Entry 3.0 features a new architecture which delivers better Web performance, faster processing times and increased online security. Organizations running Linux and Solaris servers can now use SPSS Data Entry to collect the data they need to be competitive in today's information-driven business world. The software is currently shipping worldwide. SPSS Data Entry 3.0 features a new architecture which delivers faster processing times, better Web performance, increased security and multi-platform availability. While administering Web-based surveys, SPSS Data Entry performs all of the processing work on the server, which allows surveys to download to a browser much more quickly. Additionally, respondents do not need to download a Java applet before completing a questionnaire, saving even more time. SPSS Data Entry also has the ability to share the workload of large surveys across multiple servers, which uses IT resources more efficiently. "This is the first product SPSS BI has offered for the Linux platform, and SPSS Data Entry's new Web-enabled architecture is a perfect fit with the large number of organizations hosting Web sites on Linux and Solaris servers," said Marcus Hearne, SPSS marketing manager. "These platforms have a growing number of installations, all of whom will now be able to take advantage of SPSS Data Entry's design, security and data processing power." New features of SPSS Data Entry 3.0 include:
The SPSS Data Entry family of products, which includes everything from survey design to data collection software, consists of SPSS Data Entry Builder, SPSS Data Entry Station and SPSS Data Entry Enterprise Server. SPSS Data Entry Builder is an easy-to-use form and survey design tool that also allows users to enter data. SPSS Data Entry Builder helps design and implement data collection rules--such as validation, skip-and-fill and checking--that ensure a high degree of data accuracy. Once created, questionnaires can be printed and filled out by hand, answered online in a browser or completed on-screen by operators using SPSS Data Entry Builder or SPSS Data Entry Station. SPSS Data Entry Station gives organizations that administer large numbers of paper- or phone-based surveys a low-cost, data entry only tool. Data entry operators can use SPSS Data Entry Station on isolated workstations or across a network in conjunction with SPSS Data Entry Enterprise Server. SPSS Data Entry Enterprise Server organizes and stores all data, no matter how it is collected, in a central location where it is immediately ready for analysis with SPSS Base. SPSS Data Entry Enterprise Server can also save collected data into other data file formats or database systems. SPSS Data Entry, SPSS Base and SmartViewer Web Server, SPSS BI's deployment product, integrate seamlessly to create a complete data collection, analysis and report distribution solution.
