eSystems Inc and Grau Data Storage Inc announced an OEM agreement enhancing the capabilities of Grau's Infinistore Virtual Disk (IVD) Network Attached Storage (NAS) server with ASaP, eSystems' revolutionary multi-dimensional database software.

Grau Data's IVD provides simple plug-and-play attachment to any network topology, providing seamless cross-platform file sharing for UNIX and Windows NT/2000 data using NFS and CIFS protocols while enabling users to scale capacity up to 35 TB.

Combined with ASaP, IVD users will have an unparalleled data mining tool for quickly browsing and accessing online, terabytes of data ranging from simple text, to complex documents containing large audio and video files.

An innovator in virtual disk storage technology, Grau Data's IVD appears to network clients as a single logical disk that can be partitioned for different applications. Each partition can be assigned its own data migration and protection attributes customized to the specific requirements of each application.

Requiring less than half a square meter of floor space, the IVD system delivers a dual level of high volume data protection within a very small footprint. The system can be configured with Fibre Channel, ATM or Gigabit Ethernet connects for performance-intensive applications.

The ASaP data mining application is an ideal match for the IVD series due to the software's ability to search through one, several or even all of the system's partitions for exactly the information the user needs and provide the requested data almost instantly.

With ASaP's "on-the-fly" structured search capabilities, users can modify search fields and indexes at any time without having to re-index the database. Capable of indexing Gigabytes of information per day, the addition of ASaP will also provide IVD users support for hundreds of simultaneous user queries and displays.

Price/Availability

Grau Data's Infinistore Virtual Disk (IVD) is available now. Capacities will range from 5 TB to more than 35 TB (uncompressed) with AIT-3 with prices starting at $99,875. Dual Mode operation of an IVD plus embedded tape library functionality or the Infinistore Tape Library are available with an optional Fibre Channel module to connect the library and the drives to a SAN.

ASaP is available through eSystems and many of the leading library and storage software developers with prices starting at $10,000.
