Iron Mountain Names Compaq Exec To Data Archiving UnitIron Mountain, a provider of data archive services, named Compaq storage veteran Peter Delle Donne to head up the company's Digital Archives Division. Delle Donne, who recently served as vice president of Compaq's Worldwide Storage Solutions Services business unit, says he plans to work with channel partners in selling the division's new long-term, digital-data archiving services to enterprise customers. As part of its move into this new business, Iron Mountain this week started to put together a plan to work with multiple types of channel partners, Delle Donne says. These include partners that will operate as agents for Iron Mountain, influencers such as systems integrators and vertical partners such as ISVs, he says. Once the technology is mature, Iron Mountain will also consider working with partners who would resell the service, Delle Donne says. The Digital Archives Division's services targets enterprise customers that need to store large amounts of critical data over long periods of time, even decades, for legal or other reasons. Financial services companies, for example, are required to archive stock-purchase confirm statements in three places: On a WORM devices, at an off-site location and with a third-party that can provide an audit trail for the SEC. The Digital Archives Division provides the second and third locations, Delle Donne says. |
