ShowCase Launches Global Marketing Effort with IBM SupportShowCase, a leading provider of enterprise intelligence solutions and a division of SPSS Inc announced from the COMMON Spring 2001 IT Education Conference and Expo its participation in a new global marketing campaign led by IBM. The "Try-and-Buy" program is designed to introduce IBM eServer iSeries organizations to the power of online analytical processing (OLAP) by allowing them to use IBM and ShowCase software free, for a limited time. Through the program, organizations will have the opportunity to use their own data with the software to experience first-hand how its advanced capabilities can help them better understand their operations, customers and markets. Beginning this month, IBM will include in shipments of eServer iSeries systems a CD containing a free trial edition of IBM DB2 OLAP Server for iSeries, a product developed jointly by IBM and ShowCase using ShowCase's Essbase/400 technology. The CD also will contain select ShowCase business intelligence software. This week, ShowCase launches a global direct-mail campaign to existing iSeries and AS/400 users, in support of this program. Companies that choose to take advantage of the program will receive technical support from ShowCase. "Many companies already realize the immense value business intelligence solutions provide," said Paul Hesser, ShowCase vice president of marketing and operations. "By allowing additional companies to explore our products, IBM and ShowCase expect to see increased appreciation of the benefits of using these advanced technologies together." When combined, IBM's DB2 OLAP Server for iSeries and ShowCase business intelligence solutions enable organizations to build multi-dimensional data marts or databases, analyze data from multiple perspectives, and present information in a variety of formats. This information then enables sales, marketing, purchasing, finance and other business users to make both strategic and tactical decisions faster, and with a deeper understanding of the business situation. How the program worksCompanies can use the fully functional software with their own data during the trial period for evaluation purposes. However, it is not intended for production use.
