Fujitsu Software Enabling Rapid Response to Dynamic Business

Fujitsu Software Corporation, a U.S.-based wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited, announced the launch of i-Flow 4.1, a new version of the 100% Java and only 100% browser-based business process automation engine on the market. It already is in use at some of the largest Global 1000 companies to automate their Internet-based business processes.

Enhanced editing and version management features incorporated in i-Flow 4.1 provide more control for business process design, making it easier and faster for companies and third-party developers to respond to changing business conditions.

"i-Flow 4.1 improves our customers' agility by making it easier to create and manage business process designs. This helps them adapt dynamically to changes in their environments and to manage those changes more efficiently," said Ronald Alepin, General Manager of the Enterprise Products Group, Fujitsu Software Corporation. "With the addition of JavaRMI as an option to our CORBA based model, we extend the advantages of i-Flow to the Java community while building on the solid foundation of i-Flow's open, flexible and distributed architecture."

Enhancements in i-Flow 4.1 provide the power and flexibility needed to create, automate and manage business processes in enterprises ranging from insurance to e-tailing.

"Our customers told us they needed to help their organizations react faster," said Paula Negron, i-Flow Product Manager, Fujitsu Software Corporation. "Ebusiness transformation is not just about linking systems and applications together, it's about increasing productivity. This requires improving the human-based aspects of these systems. i-Flow is the answer."

Based on this feedback, Fujitsu Software Corporation added new features to make it easier and faster for business analysts, developers, process analysts and other users to create, automate and control business process design. These improvements include:

  • Re-use of run-time changes. This enables users to save one-time changes to processes based on exceptions to regular practices, and store them as new versions for future reuse. Valuable process innovations are saved, and can actually evolve without requiring analysts or designers to recapture the changes manually.
  • New user interface features include zooming, printing and multi-point arrows that make the manipulation and review of business process designs easier. The introduction of smaller activity nodes enables users to see a larger area of their process diagrams at one glance.
  • Reporting enables managers and administrators to make better use of technical and human resources. The reporting feature provides statistics about processes, templates and tasks so that users can see, for example, how many processes are running, what state they are in, how long they took to complete, as well as how many tasks are accepted or declined, and active or inactive.
