RareVision DEBUTS BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SERVICE

RareVision Inc announced the debut of its Web-based, enterprise-level business intelligence service for fast-growing companies and their accountants, a cost-effective solution that converts accounting data into business information.

Built on the software and financial expertise developed by parent company Walker Interactive Systems Inc, RareVision delivers an unprecedented power of enterprise financial analysis to small and mid-size businesses. For a nominal monthly fee, a company can upload its accounting data and receive visual reports and alerts that enable management to anticipate potential problems, weigh financial alternatives and make better-informed decisions. The service is currently configured to work with Intuit's QuickBooks software, and RareVision will soon expand compatibility to other major accounting software programs.

RareVision also helps accountants. CPAs who serve growing businesses can use the service as a year-round, value-added resource for their practices. As a result, CPAs can provide consulting services to help their clients mine accounting data for fresh insights that lead to more effective business strategies.

"Growing businesses primarily use accounting software programs to simplify the bookkeeping," said Paul A. Lord, president of RareVision. "RareVision's business intelligence service takes traditionally static data and translates it into more dynamic information that a company's management and CPA can use to improve visibility in planning for long-term strategies."

RareVision's service uses OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing), a technology that transcends the capabilities of the traditional databases that are the foundation for accounting software programs. OLAP powers the transformation of raw data into reflections of multiple dimensions of a business. End-users thus gain the ability to find answers to not only the "who?" and "what?" questions, but more importantly, the "why?" and "what if?" ones as well.

Logging on to the RareVision service at www.rarevision.com begins with a snapshot of key business performance measures, including forecasted cash flow, income and expenses, average order size and frequency, accounts receivable aging, customer retention and top selling items or services. A simple graphic display clearly indicates whether each performance measure has had a positive change, a negative change or no significant change since the last data upload. RareVision analyzes past data, using algorithms to project future performance; then, if necessary, it displays alerts when any value falls outside its user-defined tolerance level. From this at-a-glance first page, users can easily drill down through the more complex levels of information when they need to find answers to more specific questions. RareVision also creates a variety of custom charts and reports.

A team of Walker Interactive Systems Inc veterans originally developed the concept for RareVision's business intelligence solution. Leveraging the resources and expertise that helped make Walker an industry leader in financial solutions for Global 2000 companies, the team customized the power of enterprise-level computing for the needs of growing businesses.
