Study Results Show Oracle Preferred CRM VendorOracle Corp beat out its competitors to be named the leader in providing customer intelligence through a combination of customer relationship management (CRM) and data warehousing software in The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) survey on CRM. To complete the industry-wide study, Harnessing Customer Information for Strategic Advantage: Technical Challenges and Business Solutions, TDWI asked 1,670 respondents to name their most commonly used vendor in a variety of categories. Oracle received top ranking in three categories: applications (i.e. sales, service, and marketing), databases, and data warehousing tools (i.e., extraction, transformation, and loading, and data marts). In the analytical tools category, the only area in which it did not take the top spot, Oracle ranked a close second to Cognos. In databases, the TDWI study found that Oracle databases are being used in more than half of all CRM projects -- more than twice that of the nearest database competitor.
