Creative Data Warehousing Solutions that Contain IT Costs

Knightsbridge Solutions LLC announced its new Development Center, which is dedicated to the off-site development and rapid deployment of data warehousing applications, including data extract/transform/load (ETL) processes, data architecture, data repository design, information delivery applications, and performance and scalability analysis.

The Development Center is part of Knightsbridge's Center of Excellence, which focuses on data warehousing methodology and best practices for implementation of specific data warehousing tools. Under this umbrella, the Development Center will provide existing and prospective Knightsbridge customers with an experienced team of specialists in tasks spanning the data warehousing implementation lifecycle, from requirements through build, test, and deploy phases. Complementing project work housed at the client's site, the Development Center approach results in significant savings and other benefits for clients including:

  • Reduced project time to set up the development environment
  • Incorporation of Knightsbridge best practices for those clients seeking to establish data warehousing development environments
  • Lower space and infrastructure costs for the technical team developing the solution
  • Opportunity for continuing development in the face of potentially reduced IT budgets
  • Supplemental training for select tool sets over and above what the vendors supply

"Knightsbridge's data warehousing methodology drives significant efficiency into the data warehouse development process, " stated Rod Walker, president and CEO of Knightsbridge Solutions. "Packaging our expertise and providing it to our clients in new ways that benefit their IT strategies is a unique way we can offer our customers flexibility as they face new internal challenges brought on by flat or reduced IT budgets."

The Development Center offers two operating modes for off-site data warehouse project development:

  • Self-contained development: The entire solution is developed at Knightsbridge, then ported to the client environment for deployment into production
  • Extended team development: The Development Center staff is a remote extension of the on-site development team via VPN to the customer's development environment

The Knightsbridge Development Center is currently available to all existing and prospective customers. The team of experts, under the direction of Chief Technology Officer Faisal Shah, maintains deep expertise in several ETL tools supporting the design, development, system testing, and performance and scalability of data warehousing projects. They also possess significant expertise with ETL software tools from Ab Initio Software Corporation and Informatica Corporation.

Knightsbridge most recently developed ETL solutions under the Development Center initiative for a major insurer and for a major telecommunications company.
