WhiteLight Announces v.2.7 of Analytic Application SuiteWhiteLight Systems, a leading provider of next-generation analytic applications, announced the release of version 2.7 of WhiteLight Analytic Application Suite. Version 2.7 adds XML-based information delivery and improved data access to WhiteLight's analytic platform. This release features a new addition to the suite: WhiteLight Application Objects (WAO), a set of ActiveX controls and components that enable Internet access to WhiteLight AnalyticServer (the suite's core analytic engine). Version 2.7 also includes upgrades to AnalyticServer as well as AnalyticWorkbench (the suite's development environment). "WhiteLight has been and will continue to be a pioneer in the area of analytics," said Dennis McGinn, CEO of WhiteLight Systems. "And now with Analytic Application Suite version 2.7, we greatly enhance our data access and Internet-based information delivery capabilities. This new release significantly increases the value of WhiteLight to our customers and partners by simplifying the development of analytic applications." With the introduction of WAO, analytic applications that are stand-alone, Excel- or Web-based can now access the WhiteLight AnalyticServer via XML. WAO also includes visualization components that simplify the creation of customized Windows-style user interfaces. Developers can choose how best to enable interactive data access, whether by guiding the user's activities programmatically or by wrapping data access into an interface that mirrors the look and feel of applications familiar to the user. Enterprises can also extract even more value out of existing WhiteLight information management features, such as instant write-back to operational databases and data entry from within any client. "WAO is a strategic announcement for WhiteLight. It is the first of several new ways in which WhiteLight will embrace the XML standard," said Eric Rogge, director of Product Management at WhiteLight Systems. "We see XML as a key standard for enabling the growth of the analytic applications market." Version 2.7 also adds features to mitigate the problems of creating analytic applications from "dirty" data. Often the processes whereby data warehouses and data marts are loaded with data are imperfect and result in incomplete or inconsistent data. This leads to delays in analytic application deployment as the application developers create software to handle the "dirty" data. Version 2.7 of the WhiteLight AnalyticServer enables developers to automate the handling of these data exceptions. "One of the biggest challenges our customers have is making sense of data that isn't perfect," said Rogge. "By adding features to WhiteLight that enable users to work around data cleanliness issues, we shorten their deployment times by weeks or even months."
