HNC Enters Global Fraud Detection Partnership Agreement

HNC Software Inc, a leading provider of Customer Insight software, and SchlumbergerSema, a leading international information technology services company, announced a partnership agreement in which SchlumbergerSema will offer HNC's Falcon, a leading payment card fraud detection system, as part of its Essentis new card management system.

Through the partnership, SchlumbergerSema will integrate Falcon into its Essentis system for fraud protection and also market Falcon to its customers in Europe and Asia as part of its evolving third party provider services, which include business consulting and managed card services to the payment cards industry.

Executives from SchlumbergerSema expressed their confidence that Falcon will strengthen the Essentis card processing system, and that the partnership with HNC will immediately expand market opportunities for both Falcon and Essentis throughout Europe. In addition, the global expansion plans of SchlumbergerSema call for concentrated marketing efforts for Essentis and its provider services in the Asia Pacific realm.

"This alliance with SchlumbergerSema will significantly expand Falcon's availability to a broad array of card issuers in Europe and Asia, and greatly compliments our overall international growth strategy," said Michael Chiappetta, vice president of customer analytics for HNC Software. "We're glad SchlumbergerSema has selected Falcon as its sole fraud detection solution for its customers, and we look forward to working with them in the immediate future."

The first Falcon implementation within Essentis is planned to take place at UBS Card Center, the card issuing organization of UBS, one of Europe's largest banks. Already a Falcon customer, UBS Card Center representatives insisted that Essentis be interoperable with the Falcon fraud detection system.

Falcon, a neural network-based predictive software system that examines transaction, cardholder, and merchant data to detect a wide range of payment card fraud, currently protects more than 400 million payment card accounts worldwide.

Similar to Falcon, Essentis is a solution developed for an increasingly global market, offering the capability to manage a variety of payment card products and operate with multiple currencies and languages. Essentis exploits the latest technological advances to deliver competitive advantage to card issuers by offering speed to market of new products, customer focus, the ability to process chip cards, and to utilize new delivery channels such as the Internet and wireless devices.
