Timeline Receives Australian Patent on Data Mart Technology

Timeline Inc announced it received a patent award from the Australia Patent and Trademark Office, the company's first international patent award. This patent extends Timeline's U.S. patents for the automation of data mart design with multiple source capability. Timeline's patented technology is primarily for generating data marts used in the transformation, preparation and maintenance of accounting data for reporting, budgeting and analysis.

"We are delighted to begin receiving international protection for our intellectual property rights," said Michael Evans, vice president of Worldwide Sales. "We have several clients and a distributor in Australia who utilize our software, and it is a geographic region in which we have an interest in expanding."

"This patent award further solidifies Timeline's position as a global leader in the transformation, preparation and maintenance of data, including written data such as account information, as well as accounting data for reporting, budgeting and analysis," stated Charles Osenbaugh, president and chief executive officer. "Since 1998, our patents have been widely licensed by the world's largest software companies, including Microsoft, Broadbase Software, Sagent Technologies and Oracle."

Timeline's product line applies its patented technology to distribute data marts of information drawn from a wide variety of accounting and financial systems. These data marts are used on the desktop for reporting, budgeting and analysis through Timeline's Excel-based products. This eliminates re-keying of data while maintaining data integrity, and allows each end user to develop personal analysis or reports using Timeline-enhanced technology. The company's primary products, Timeline Analyst and Timeline Server, consist of client/server and desktop software applications based on Windows/Windows NT and Microsoft Office operating systems.
