CA Unifies eBusiness Storage Under BrightStor Brand

Computer Associates International Inc (CA), a leading provider of eBusiness management solutions, announced that it is unifying and extending its broad range of industry-leading eBusiness storage solutions under its new BrightStor brand. The BrightStor portfolio delivers highly scalable storage management across mobile-to-mainframe platforms, enabling organizations to protect, manage and integrate valuable data assets with optimum reliability and operational efficiency.

CA also announced the availability of the first product released under the BrightStor brand, BrightStor Enterprise Backup. BrightStor Enterprise Backup delivers "hot" online backup of relational databases at an unparalleled rate of 1.56 terabytes-per-hour, according to Doculabs, Inc., an independent analyst and advisory firm. Such high performance can significantly reduce backup windows, making data readily available for critical eBusiness operations.

According to the Hurwitz Group, the world's current yearly production of print, film, optical and magnetic content would require roughly 1.5 billion gigabytes of storage -- which is approximately 250 megabytes for each person on earth. Data protection requirements are expected to increase dramatically over the next few years.
