Companies Choose Cognos for CRM Reporting

When it comes to reporting and analyzing customer data and strengthening customer relationships, more companies select Cognos, a leading provider of business intelligence solutions, to get the job done.

In a recent industry survey, conducted by The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), more businesses said they use Cognos business intelligence (BI) for customer relationship management (CRM) than any other BI vendor. Results from the study reflect Cognos' continued leadership position in the rapidly expanding analytical CRM market.

"Cognos has been a leader in the business intelligence market for many years," said Wayne Eckerson, director of education and research at TDWI. "The study results show Cognos is leading in the analytical CRM market as well."

Survey respondents said they rely on Cognos to deliver the analytical components of their CRM solutions, which includes query, reporting, online analytical processing, and data mining tools. Cognos beat out several other major business intelligence vendors for the top spot in this category. The survey results were based on 1209 respondents and were part of TDWI's Harnessing Customer Information for Strategic Advantage: Technical Challenges and Business Solutions.

The study comes at a time when more and more industry leading companies are selecting Cognos to help them better understand the profiles, patterns and trends within their customer bases.

"We are using the Cognos customer intelligence solution to take commerce online and to really service our customers - to understand who is visiting the site, if they are registering on the site, how long they are staying and what applications they are using online, and to facilitate commerce as well as to generate leads for our sales team," said Chuck Richards, IT project manager, Otis Elevator.

"This information is not only critical to world-wide headquarters, but we can also provide that customer intelligence to the regional managers to better target their communications to existing and prospective customers. The response from our teams has been truly overwhelming," said Jeff Andersen, senior manager, e-business, Otis Elevator.

"Global 2000 companies have never had as much raw customer data at their fingertips as they do right now. But that data is only useful if it can be transformed into actionable business information," said Alan Rottenberg, senior vice president, E-Applications Business Unit at Cognos. "Cognos turns raw customer data into real business insight by uniting all customer data assets from across the organization and applying rich reporting and analysis to deliver an in-depth, enterprise view of every customer relationship."
