ProActivity Ships Enhanced ProActivity v.3.1ProActivity Inc, a leading provider of next-generation Business Process Analysis and Design solutions for the Global 2000, announced the availability of ProActivity Version 3.1, which features enhanced automatic, dynamic generation of process diagrams, flows, and models; enterprise support; and integration with Unified Modeling Language (UML) development environments. "Version 3.1 dramatically improves the visualization of business processes to enable clear understanding, analysis and design of new, and improved processes," said Dave Champagne, president and CEO of ProActivity. "ProActivity's next-generation approach is about dynamic knowledge capture and collaboration. We create one central and validated repository of Business Process Knowledge that can be shared across the enterprise. From this knowledge, combined with our advanced analytics, our customers gain a complete, dynamic and multidimensional understanding of their existing and potential processes from which they can act to improve operational efficiency, accelerate IT initiatives, and create collaborative processes that reach beyond the enterprise." Automatic Process Diagram GenerationProActivity 3.1 provides users with a greater variety of viewing options for business process entities, including the creation of sub-process windows that allow a company to dig deeper into its business process workflows. In addition, another key feature is automatic diagram generation, in which diagrams, flows, models, charts, etc. automatically adjust and stretch to wrap text within a single box in a Microsoft Visio-like fashion to make process diagrams more readable and accessible. Enhanced Enterprise SupportProActivity 3.1 is designed as a Business Process Knowledge platform for the enterprise, that includes enhanced administration features such as database locking, maintenance, and field-level security. Administrators are now able to ensure that no user enters ProActivity during the execution of massive database operations, such as periodic updates or migrating critical data from one database to another. ProActivity 3.1 also allows users to load a batch of user-defined resources and their types into the modeling environment. For example, a customer might want to define Application Screens as User Defined Resources. There could be hundreds of such screens and so entering this information the traditional way might take days. With Version 3.1, this process is now done quickly and automatically. Incorporates UML in Creating Business Process ModelsProActivity 3.1 now includes support for exporting data to application development tools through UML technology. Users can now export ProActivity Business Object information to Rational Rose, ERwin, and other environments, enabling the creation of customized software programs to assist in application development. Through UML, users gain the ability to export data for object-oriented diagramming, making diagrams and specifications consistent between software development methodologies. ProActivity provides information needed to create UML Use Cases and Class Diagrams. The UML Use Cases are techniques for collecting and organizing requirements. ProActivity provides a Use Case report that lays out the exact information needed to draw a Use Case. More importantly, ProActivity also provides a way to export Business Objects to UML to give development projects a head start. It will ensure that the classes with the greatest business significance have been correctly represented on the class diagram. In this respect, the mapping helps to implement and solidify model based development.
