SAKONNET TECHNOLOGY CAPITALIZES ON JAVLIN FROM OBJECT DESIGN

Object Design, a division of eXcelon Corporation, announced that Javlin, its data server for Java environments, is being used in collaboration with BEA's WebLogic application server to support Sakonnet Technology's energy trading and risk management system. Javlin, which provides middle-tier distributed caching for Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) environments, contributes significantly to the performance of Sakonnet's application.

Sakonnet has a trading system for all major energy markets which frees its clients from the static, unwieldy features of legacy client/server systems. Javlin, working with the WebLogic application server, enables Sakonnet to create new data models easily without table mapping or serialization. This is accomplished because Javlin uses native EJBs to consolidate automatically different types of enterprise data in the middle tier where it is cached in EJB format.

"When we combined Javlin with BEA's WebLogic, we saw an incredible increase in developer productivity, as we don't need to write more than a few lines of database-specific code," said Alarik Myrin, Sakonnet co-founder and chief technical officer. "As a result, Javlin has enabled us to slash development time. Just as important, it eliminates constraints on new modeling so we can quickly add new features to stay ahead of our competition."
