Peer-To-Peer:

Tracking p2p Audiences with MeasureCast

AllCast, the originator of "peer-to-multi-peer" Webcasting, announced that it has selected the MeasureCast Streaming Audience Measurement Service to track the size of audiences using the AllCast Broadcaster. MeasureCast, the first company to provide Internet radio broadcasters with next-day audience size and demographics reports, will integrate its unique streaming audience measurement technology with AllCast's method of streaming media delivery.

Content owners, hosting companies, and other service providers use the AllCast Broadcaster to deliver streaming content efficiently, reliably and inexpensively. With the Measurecast solution, these companies now have access to timely on-line reports detailing true audience size and corresponding demographics.

Based on AllCast's patented "peer-to-multi-peer" distribution, the AllCast Broadcaster allows webcasters to deliver live broadcasts to large audiences without incurring the high costs associated with current streaming technologies. With this method, users distribute the content to each other rather than receiving it all from one central place, thereby reducing bandwidth requirements, and with it the cost of Webcasting.

"This agreement enables AllCast's Internet broadcasting customers to quickly gain access to MeasureCast's streaming audience measurement service," said Bill Piwonka, MeasureCast's vice president of marketing. "Advancements in streaming technology, including cost-saving peer-to-peer delivery methods such as those offered by AllCast, help reduce streaming costs for on-line broadcasters. We look forward to providing our joint customers with the audience information that is so critical to evaluating and placing streaming media advertising."

Jacky Benmoha, chief executive officer at AllCast, said, "We see MeasureCast as a key component of our product offering, and we are very pleased that the leading streaming audience measurement company has agreed to track the size of our 'peer-to-multi-peer' audiences. This is further proof of the viability of our method of delivering content over the Internet."
