Applications:Hummingbird Supports Teradata with Genio Suite 5.0Hummingbird Ltd, a world-leading enterprise software company, announced that it is broadening the level of integration of Genio Suite with Teradata, a division of NCR, on the basis of significant enhancements to Genio Suite. These enhancements will enable Teradata customers to maximize the value of their data warehousing investments by moving data more quickly, efficiently and seamlessly from any data source to the Teradata warehouse. Hummingbird will support Teradata's customers with Genio Suite 5.0, a powerful data exchange solution, which represents the first ETL tool (extract, transform and load) to support Teradata's TPump loader, a key component of a Teradata active data warehouse, and among the first to utilize in-memory streaming of data into all the Teradata loaders. "We are pleased to be working closely with Hummingbird in defining how to best meet the data movement and transformation requirements of customers using Teradata for both traditional and active data warehousing," said Paula Basch-Austin, vice president, Teradata Global Alliances. "Genio Suite plays an important role in enabling customers to incorporate data from many different sources, including Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) and customer relationship management systems (CRM) such as SAP and Siebel, into their Teradata data warehouses. Hummingbird and Teradata are working together to ensure that Genio Suite satisfies the high demands of enterprise and production system data loading requirements." Genio Suite accelerates the loading process by streaming data directly into the high performance Teradata loaders (FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPump) without having to stage the data to a disk-based intermediate text file. This unique integration further ensures the speed of data loading, simplifying the logistics, and providing the ability to implement instant data loading. Once the data is resident in Teradata, Genio Suite leverages Teradata's MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) architecture by generating native Teradata SQL to transform data without having to load it back into the Genio engine. Teradata's active data warehouse extends the support offered by the traditional data warehouse by enabling both tactical and strategic decision-making. Tactical decisions, the drivers of day-to-day operations, require up-to-the-minute information, and feeding this information into the corporate data warehouse has unique data loading requirements. These requirements include supporting continuous streams or bursts of data, instant updating of the data warehouse without impacting existing concurrent users, and highly flexible triggering based on unpredictable arrival of data from multiple operational sources. "Hummingbird and Teradata have been working together for the last year to identify how to best support the data exchange requirements of Teradata's active data warehouse," said Eugene Cherny, vice president, Research and Development, Hummingbird Ltd. "As organizations seek to integrate diverse IT systems and data from disparate databases in near real-time, the requirement for speed and throughput in the ETL process is significantly higher; this is the value of Genio Suite 5.0 for a Teradata-based solution. Additionally, this allows Teradata customers to integrate and extract data from common environments like IBM non-relational sources and AS/400." Genio Suite is Hummingbird's universal data exchange solution that transforms, cleanses, enriches and directs information across the entire spectrum of decision-support systems and enterprise applications including ERP and CRM systems. This support for the Teradata active data warehouse will offer Teradata users tighter integration and faster deployment within their environment, by speeding data loads into Teradata data warehouses. The increased support of bulk loaders in Genio 5.0's Loader Wizard provides "best of breed" data loading solutions, bringing IT professionals the fastest approach to loading data. Genio Suite 5.0 will be shipping this quarter. About Teradata DivisionTeradata, a division of NCR Corporation, offers powerful analytical solutions that help businesses drive growth.
