COSCO Container Lines Selects Sybase

Sybase Inc, a leading e-Business solutions provider, announced that COSCO Container Lines Co Ltd has signed a $2.8 million contract with Sybase Software (China) Co Ltd COSCON will deploy Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise, Replication Server, Open Client and jConnect in its IRIS-2 System for data collection, storage, conversion, processing and analysis.

The COSCON contract increases Sybase's infiltration into China's marketplace, and further strengthens Sybase's leadership in the transportation and energy sectors in China.

COSCON is a leading company specializing in container transportation under COSCO Group (China Ocean Shipping Company). Its business scope ranges from international and domestic container transport by sea, space booking, ship's chartering, shipping agency, ship's trade, ship's stores, spare parts, provision and bunkers, to other shipping-related businesses, on-land enterprises, telecommunications service, labor leasing service, warehousing and multi-modal transport. Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise database management system will become a centralized e-Business platform to connect systems in disparate geographical locations, fulfilling the requirements of Enterprise Portals (EP), high performance on-line transaction processing performance (OLTP), heterogeneous loading environment and data warehousing. Sybase's Replication Server will help allow data replication among different mainframes and servers, providing powerful replication capability for mass unstructured data replication in distributed systems. Open Client, a client-side application suite, will run on a versatile programming interface for effective front-end applications. jConnect, a component of Sybase's powerful Java development tool PowerJ, will provide high-speed data access for excellent connectivity to the database management system.
