Business & Money Trail:SYBASE BARES 2002 STRATEGYAs reported by Edu H. Lopez, Sybase Philippines Inc, a leading provider of enterprise-class software solutions has bared its strategy for 2002 as it aims to become the leader in data warehousing solutions. "We will strengthen our position in the data warehousing space and aim to become the de facto industry leader in the Philippines," said Delfin T. Hallare, Jr. president and general manager of Sybase Philippines. With the growing number of cellular phone users in the country, Hallare said Sybase is starting to penetrate the mobile and wireless industry. "We strongly believe that our iAnywhere solution will help us get our share in the market," said Hallare. Another strategy is for Sybase to develop and strengthen its business relationship with its existing partners and prospective partners. "We would also improve our customer care by having an executive customer relationship program and as well as improve our public and media relations," Hallare pointed out. Last year, Sybase biggest market for its data warehousing solutions was the telecommunications sector. "Sybase is the only software and solution company with an end-to-end data warehousing solution for the telecommunications industry." Hallare said he expects a better performance for 2002 than last year. "As of now, we don’t have any new product and solution. But we would continually develop our product offerings to fit the requirements of the majority of our customers." He said Sybase would continue to focus its attention in the telecommunications and banking industries. To further gain market share, Hallare said Sybase would be more aggressive in marketing its products and expand its partners. "We have started implementing our plan for the year. However, additional programs will follow after our regional kick-off this month," Hallare added. Earlier, Sybase customer comScore was awarded the Grand Prize in the Winter Corporate Database Scalability Survey of very large databases for its innovative use of data warehousing in an NT environment. ComScore’s Customer Knowledge Platform, which uses Sybase Adaptive Server IQ Multiplex to generate information, received the grand prize in January for implementing the largest data warehouse in the world on an NT platform. This category did not exist in previous years, but Sybase’s multiplexing technology allows NT to be a viable option for large scale data warehousing. Customer Knowledge platform captures a comprehensive '360 degree view' of surfing and buying activity across the Web by electronically monitoring more than one million people who have opted-in to allow their online behavior to be anonymously tracked and captured on a totally confidential basis.
