Applications:SAS Establishes Campus Innovation Grants ProgramSAS Institute, a market leader in business intelligence, announced a new grants program for accredited U.S. institutions of higher education. The Campus Innovation Grants Program is designed to promote the use of SAS technology in all areas of higher education. The new program will recognize programs and projects that simultaneously advance the goals of the grant recipients' SAS software and technology. "Technology alone will not move our educational system forward," said Jim Goodnight, SAS president and CEO. "The creativity and innovation of people using technology are what drive dramatic change. We're confident that this grants program will not only build on SAS' history of working collaboratively with institutions of higher learning but also create opportunities to help colleges and universities use software technology in new and better ways." Grants to cover the acquisition of SAS software and solutions will be awarded to selected initiatives that expand the access and use of technology on campuses. SAS' 2002 initiatives for the new grants program include data mining, data warehousing, customer relationship management, enrollment management, business intelligence, intrusion detection, genomics, performance management, human resources reporting and financial reporting. SAS, which was founded on a university campus more than 25 years ago, has remained true to its academic roots by supporting a variety of educational causes. During the past two years, the company has partnered, through grants, with several colleges and universities, including Baylor University, the 16 campuses of the University of North Carolina school system, Arkansas State University, the University of California's 10-campus system and Pennsylvania State University. The Campus Innovation Grants are open to all areas of an institution, including teaching, research and internal administration.
