Computers & Processors:Compaq ProLiant Servers Set New Large-Scale DW RecordsCompaq Computer Corporation announced that industry-standard Compaq ProLiant servers have delivered record-setting performance results for multi-terabyte data warehouses at as much as a 50 percent cost advantage over proprietary solutions. For the first time on an industry-standard server platform at the 3TB scale factor, ProLiant DL760 servers running Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server and IBM DB2 Universal Database have set new Transaction Processing Performance Council H (TPC-H) benchmark records of 21,053.5 Queries-per-Hour (QphH@3000GB) at $291 per QphH@3000GB, and 1TB scale performance results of 22,361.9 QphH@1000GB at $255 per QphH@1000GB, respectively. These benchmarks demonstrate that Compaq ProLiant server customers can now realize the data-analysis benefits of large-scale data warehouses with the economics of industry standards to improve processes for inventory management, buying behavior management and fraud detection. Today's results extend Compaq ProLiant server leadership in delivering enterprise solutions with superior performance and price/performance in demanding data base server application environments. ProLiant servers now hold the number one benchmark records for 3TB and 1TB scale TPC-H, as well as the number one record TPC-C benchmark for performance (709,220 tpmC @ $14.96/tpmC).
