Business & Money Trail:DoD AWARDS $10M TASK ORDER TO SRAThe U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Technical Information Center, has awarded SRA International, Inc a competitive task order to provide information technology and business process reengineering support to DoD's Science & Technology (S&T) program. The task order, awarded under the Department of Transportation's Information Technology Omnibus Procurement II (ITOP II) contract, has an estimated value of $10.5 million over five years if all options are exercised. ITOP II is a government-wide agency contract program for IT services available for use throughout the federal government. The Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) oversees over $9 billion in annual DoD research and development activities and uses S&T information management tools to develop plans and monitor progress of our nation's defense S&T initiatives. Since 1997, SRA has worked with DDR&E to improve the research and development evaluation process, develop Internetbased collaboration tools to improve the quality and accessibility of S&T data and information, and design a data warehouse to help manage the S&T investment process. Under this new task order, SRA services will include data standardization and administration; information management requirements analysis, design and development; and business process reengineering (BPR). The goals of the program are to reengineer S&T program processes to achieve greater mission effectiveness, standardize data to promote interoperability, minimize duplication, and enhance S&T management decisions. "We are pleased to continue the excellent working relationship and technology partnership we have forged with DTIC in support of DDR&E," said David Kriegman, SRA senior vice president and director, Defense Information Systems. "Our approach builds on our prior BPR, data management, and Internet technology support, with continued emphasis on providing quality data to the S&T community."
