ActaWorks Selected by De Beers

Acta Technology, the creator of the first data integration platform to combine real-time and batch data movement, announced that De Beers, the largest diamond mining company in the world, has implemented ActaWorks, an extraction, transformation and loading tool and the core component of Acta's Data Integration Platform, to deliver business intelligence from a multitude of systems in a deal worth more than $700,000.

De Beers, headquartered in South Africa, selected Acta as part of its commitment to install a standard data platform across its global enterprise.

"The decision to use ActaWorks as the key data integration platform will impact a number of strategic initiatives within the Group and positively affect the delivery capabilities of IT, helping to provide the correct information wherever and whenever it is needed," said Kevin Burford, IT executive, De Beers.

"De Beers intends to use ActaWorks to ensure enterprise wide data integrity and consistency, regardless of back-end or front-end systems," said Marc Scheepbouwer, marketing director at GBI, Acta Technology's African distributor. "De Beers did not want to be constrained by its choice of technology at the front-end or back-end. By choosing ActaWorks and installing it as a critical architectural component, De Beers gains freedom of choice when selecting solutions, as well as a platform to facilitate the integration of legacy or other system data."

"De Beers' primary interest in ActaWorks is its dynamic warehousing capabilities, inheriting data structure logic regardless of the source; its ability to access the application layer of multiple ERPs including JD Edwards and its ability to conduct secure transactions within the ERP system on a real-time basis using the Internet," said Tim Daniels, vice president EMEA, Acta Technology. "These are our core strengths and have been recognized as pivotal to delivering business benefits to our other customers including Unilever, IBM and Hitachi Europe."

The Acta Data Integration Platform consists of ActaWorks, a powerful next generation extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tool with industry-leading performance, and eCaches, a product suite of pre-packaged batch and real-time data movement and business logic for analytics and other data intensive integration projects like customer relationship management and supply chain management. Acta eCaches focus on Finance and Operations, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing and Distribution, Purchasing and Inventory.
