Kingston 1.2" Low-Profile DDR Memory Upgrades

Kingston Technology Company Inc announced the immediate availability of a complete line of 1.2" low-profile DDR (Double Data Rate) PC1600 memory products supporting the new IBM eServer xSeries 360.

The powerful new server is the first IBM server that incorporates DDR PC1600 technology and the Enterprise X-Architecture technology. It is also the first server in the industry to incorporate Intel's new generation of processors, the Intel Xeon MP. The Intel Xeon processor MP family is designed specifically for mid-tier and back-end servers performing key business functions such as application management, transaction processing, database management, and supply chain management.

The new low-profile Kingston modules supporting the IBM eServer xSeries 360 server utilize DDR (Double Data Rate) PC1600 memory technology, which offers higher performance over mainstream PC100 or PC133 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory. Additionally, Kingston's modules enhance server capabilities for faster data mining. DDR is an evolutionary improvement over mature PC100 and PC133 SDRAM technology. DDR DRAM components can perform two data operations per clock cycle (versus SDRAM's single operation per clock cycle), the effective data throughput of a DDR DIMM is twice that of a SDRAM DIMM.
