SGL's FlashNet Supports ASACA's TeraCart Libraries

FlashNet, a backup and archive storage software solution capable of efficiently managing even the more demanding requirements of large digital video, imaging and data sets, offers unmatched support scaleable from desktop to enterprise.

Using standard network protocols, FlashNet provides global data protection across a distributed network computing environment using a robust index database architecture to ensure fast data search and retrieval times are maintained as near online data sets grow.

Recognized as the world's highest-density, random-access storage solutions, the TeraCart offers scalability from 2.3TB to more than 109TB, can be configured with as many as 192 DVD-RAM/R drives and can house up to 11,600 double-sided 9.4GB rewritable and/or write-once DVD discs.

A completely modular system, organizations can start with a single cabinet and expand to as many as eight libraries, connected using pass-through and infrared communications providing capacities well into the petabyte (PB) range. FlashNet's unique and robust index database architecture ensures that TeraCart users experience fast data search and retrieval times even as near on-line data sets grow.

A "Grouping" feature combines several pieces of media within the TeraCart into logical "Super" volumes and provides automated backup scheduling to effectively reduce the amount of operator intervention to an absolute minimum.

SGL's FlashNet plug-in modules are available to deliver highly productive and truly scalable industry specific solutions for digital asset management in print, publishing, broadcast video and other imaging related markets. ASACA's TeraCart DVL systems are available for immediate delivery. Individual libraries can be configured with 1 to 24 DVD-RAM, DVD-R, or a combination of the two drives for online capacities ranging from 2.3TB to nearly 14TB. Expansion cabinets are available for up to 109TB of DVD storage.

The TeraCart AM250 starts at $30,000 and the AM1450, with 24 drives, is approximately $200,000, depending upon the options selected. Fibre Channel SAN-ready models include a built-in server and are available with an ATX or Sparc, NT or UNIX operating system.
