Aspen Enhances Demand Management Solution with SPSS

SPSS Enabling Technologies, the division of SPSS Inc devoted to providing the company's technology to partners through OEM agreements, announced that Aspen Technology Inc has embedded time-series analytical components from SPSS Inc into its Aspen Demand Manager supply chain solution. With this development, AspenTech will provide its process industry customers with more accurate and effective forecasting, essential to more profitable supply chain management and demand planning.

Based on SPSS Inc's breadth and depth of technology and expertise in predictive analytics, the SPSS time series component handles a multitude of forecasting needs, by applying sophisticated statistical and data mining techniques. This component is part of a library of self-contained analytical components, available from SPSS Inc that allow independent software vendors (ISVs) to quickly build seamless analytical applications that analyze data to measure, predict and optimize business performance. As a result, ISVs quickly improve the analytical capabilities of their applications with a significant reduction in development time and costs, faster time to market and lower risk. End-users of the combined solution also benefit from the reliable, accurate results of sophisticated analytics without the need for technical knowledge of data mining or statistical analysis.

The Aspen Demand Manager application is a key product within AspenTech's suite of supply chain solutions. Aspen Demand Manager accurately translates historical demand patterns into future forecasts aggregated to any brand, family, or other grouping required by the users. The solution emphasizes collaborative planning of demands to maximize service while minimizing inventory investment. The AspenTech supply chain solution supports an end-to-end Sales and Operations planning process that takes the unconstrained demand forecast, manufacturing and transportation costs and constraints as input, and produces optimized production and distribution plans as output.

Aspen Demand Manager including the SPSS Inc analytical components is currently available. The installed base can upgrade to the new version, provided they are currently under active maintenance with AspenTech.
