Trader Media Ltd Selects Buystream for Web Analytics

Buystream, a leading provider of analytics and reporting solutions, announced that Trader Media Ltd, the UK's leading classified-advertising publishing group best known for Auto Trader, has chosen Buystream Merchant to provide Web analytics for five classified Web sites.

Trader Media Ltd has purchased Buystream's flagship Web analytics solution. Merchant will be used on AutoTrader.co.uk, the UK's most successful motoring site and on other Auto Trader sites in Holland, South Africa and Ireland. Merchant will also be implemented on AdTrader.co.uk, the largest online classified advertising Web site in the UK. Together these sites get over 90 million page views per month.

"We have used and trialed a number of mechanisms -- from log file solutions to third party analysts -- to try to understand how visitors are interacting with our classified sites," said Tim Jones, Deputy CTO at Trader Media. "After we evaluated solutions from North America, Europe and the UK, Buystream stood out as having proven technology that can handle our large volume of data, provide business metrics when we want them and allow us to integrate with other data sources."

Buystream Merchant analyzes key online processes for marketing ROI, merchandising effectiveness and visitor attributes. The reports are produced in real time and are easily accessible. Using Merchant, Trader Media is able to track visitor behavior throughout the entire search, refinement, comparison and registration processes, including abandonment at each step.

"There are several ways in which we see the Buystream enterprise solution adding 'control' to our Website metrics. One is with cost of ownership, we can clearly budget for growth of our site traffic and the software costs in advance. There will be no 'surprise' invoices from an ASP supplier should we have a great marketing campaign and our Web site traffic goes through the roof," explained Jones. "We can cap the expenditure, thus being in control of our own destiny."

With a number of different Web sites as part of their overall business, Trader Media collected data in a variety of ways from different sources. Their Information Management team had to manually gather log files and filter gigabytes of data. This process was time-consuming and costly.

"When we evaluated a market leading ASP solution we were unable to integrate data sources into our current data warehouse environments or plan for integration for future initiatives," said Jones. "We also use Cognos quite extensively within our own data-mining environment and since Buystream Merchant is bundled with Cognos Powerplay we can leverage value from existing skills and understanding in our Information Management Team."

Buystream Merchant features an open database architecture and data-tag technology that allows easier integration with backend retail and CRM solutions. Trader Media can now create a unified view of their customers and their business across all channels.

"Trader Media Ltd has been remarkably successful online and we look forward to working with them to further refine their already impressive online processes," said Randy Woods, President and CEO at Buystream.
