NEW 2002 DW AND BI SALARY SURVEY RELEASED BY TDWI

The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), the premier provider of in-depth, high-quality education and research in the data warehousing and business intelligence industry, announced the recent release of its 2002 Salary Survey, "2002 Data Warehousing Salary, Roles, and Responsibilities Report." Findings show that the average salary for data warehousing and business intelligence professionals worldwide decreased by 1 percent from 2000 to 2001, from $78,884 to $77,890.

"Key reasons contributing to this decrease appears to be a drop-off in the number of six-figure data warehousing professionals at dot-coms, and a slowdown in the economy at large," explained Wayne Eckerson, director of education and research at TDWI.

This report, which was based on a survey of more than 1,200 respondents, also shows that despite the average salary decrease, 66 percent of data warehousing professionals worldwide reported their salaries increased more than 4 percent from the previous year, and 37 percent reported an increase of 6 percent or more. The median salary for 2001 was $75,000, unchanged from the previous year.

This in-depth annual report provides an overview, not only of compensation, but also of the roles, responsibilities, skills, experience, training, and job satisfaction of data warehousing and business intelligence professionals worldwide. It also provides comprehensive profiles of 10 data warehousing roles.
