Inxight Enhances SAS Text Miner with Advanced Text Analysis

Under the terms of the agreement, SAS, a leading provider of business intelligence, has incorporated Inxight's rich text analysis and entity extraction technology into SAS Text Miner. Text Miner allows users to discover and extract knowledge from a wide variety of unstructured text documents, including sales call reports, medical records, Web pages, patents, warranty claims and e-mailed customer communications. On May 31, 2002, SAS announced the general availability of SAS Text Miner, adding advanced text mining to the company's market-leading data mining solution. Inxight is the premier partner to work with SAS on Text Miner.

To enhance its text mining capabilities, Text Miner incorporates Inxight's LinguistX Platform, a natural language text analysis solution that automatically analyzes words, phrases and sentences from any unstructured source in multiple languages. Text Miner also uses Inxight's Thing Finder entity extraction technology that instantly identifies and extracts named entities from text, including company names, products, people, addresses and dates. Text Miner includes the support of English, French and German, with 13 additional languages available separately from Inxight.
