Ciprico Near Terabyte Removable Media Storage

Ciprico's TALON is the first storage solution to provide industry leading data transfer performance with the convenience and efficiency of removable media, at near terabyte capacities. TALON has been specifically built for the demanding requirements of military ground-based, shipboard and airborne environments.

Answering the growing need for more secure data transfer methods, Ciprico's new TALON provides users a quick way of moving large amounts of data in an efficient and protected process. A number of military programs are designing the new TALON into their reconnaissance or surveillance systems because they can easily store nearly a terabyte of data in a single drive pack, quickly remove the entire pack for processing in labs or control rooms, install another drive pack, and immediately return to normal operation. In addition, the self-contained drive pack enables those in defense operations to dispose of data quickly in an emergency situation. No other storage system on the market today allows the users to do what the TALON delivers.

TALON's rugged design, along with high speed, fault-protected data capturing capability make it especially suited for mission planning, intelligence gathering and targeting applications. Through independent laboratory testing, TALON has achieved certification on a number of U.S. Department of Defense military ruggedization standards known as MIL-STD-901D, MIL-STD-810F, MIL-STD- 167 and MIL-STD-704E, ensuring TALON meets stringent military standards for shock, vibration, and warm, cold or humid environments.

The TALON is a complete, end-to-end Fibre Channel digital storage solution, supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3 and 5 and offering a sustained data transfer rate of up to 190 MB/sec. The removable drive pack is designed for flexible drive configurations from as few as three, up to a maximum of 11 hot swappable drives, with maximum array capacities reaching over 0.8 terabytes.

TALON systems will be available in June 2002. Attendees at the AFCEA TECHNET Conference, June 11-13, 2002 in Washington, D.C., will be the first to see this revolutionary new product.
