Chaparral Network Storage Announces New F-AT DISK System

With capacities ranging from 1.9TB to 11.5TB, the modular 72-drive RAID system holds more data in less space than most RAID systems available today. The F-AT DISK RAID system will be available with 12 160GB ATA hard drives in a 5U form factor and scalable to 72 drives in a 25U form factor.

The F-AT DISK RAID system is ideal for environments that require low-cost shareable storage, such as intermediate record repositories, rich media staging, business continuance planning and immediate recovery/restoration situations. The Chaparral F-AT DISK RAID system can read data at up to 275MB per second, and write up to 150MB per second. The storage solution is available with single or active/active controllers. Dual active controller configurations allow the user to meet the high availability requirements demanded in many application environments. In addition, both single and dual controllers are host independent, therefore no host software is required.

The F-AT DISK system is based on the Chaparral Network Storage JFS 2Gb line of RAID controllers and the Maxtor EXP-6000 subsystem solution containing 12 60GB ATA hard drives for each 4U shelf integrated into a rack-mountable system.

High Performance

The Chaparral S4000 series delivers more than 16,000 IOPs and sustained transfer rates over 275MB per second in a fully configured system.

Access Management Capability

The F-AT DISK RAID system can be integrated with the Chaparral RAIDar Access Management software. The integrated solution allows users to have true volume sharing capabilities over a Fibre Channel SAN environment. The improvement of the data management across the SAN will create an efficient and cost effective shared storage environment.

Availability

The Chaparral Network Storage F-AT DISK is available for purchase today from Chaparral's distributors and value-added resellers worldwide. List price per MB is available for as low as $0.01. In addition, the F-AT DISK comes with a three-year parts warranty.
