Top Of The News - Hardware:Exabyte VXA-1 Tape Drive Certified On Toshiba Magnia ServersThe VXA-1/Retrospect bundle will be offered as a third-party add-on storage solution with the Magnia 550D, Magnia 3200, Magnia 7100, and the newest addition to the Magna server line. The Magnia Z310 is a unique half-rack wide, 2U space-saving, high-performance wireless mobility server. The servers and tape drives will be featured at PC Expo in New York. Designed for reliability and assured, continuous availability, the Magnia server line offers the right blend of flexibility, power and size to accommodate the evolving demands of any size business. The servers range from entry-level servers for small businesses with limited IT budgets to robust enterprise servers for vast data processing that can handle data-intensive applications ranging from high transaction processing and data mining, to managing large amounts of customer data. Toshiba will offer SCSI and IDE/ATAPI interface versions of the VXA-1 tape drive, with 33 GB of uncompressed capacity (66 GB with built-in ALDC compression and 3 Mb/sec of transfer rate (6 Mb/sec compressed). The Exabyte VXA-1 drive and VXA AutoPak 1X10 autoloader will be featured at the Toshiba booth at PC Expo, Javits Convention Center, New York.
