SCINET To Offer Exabyte VXA-1 Tape Drives To Customers

SCINET, a division of Medical Manager Corp, provides back-office technology support, as well as patient data and billing systems, to Doctor's offices, Multi-Specialty Provider Groups and Clinics.

"Our customers rely on the systems we implement to manage patient records and billing, so it's critical to their customers and their business to have a reliable and affordable data backup system," said David Lavoie, Partner Relationship Manager at SCINET. "With VXA's multiple connectivity and capacity options, as well as its low price, plug-and-play capability and compatibility, it's really the perfect solution for reliable, affordable backup."

Providing high reliability and capacity at one of the lowest costs per gigabyte in the industry, VXA tape drive technology offers significant advantages over current DDS technology in the DDS (DAT) replacement market. The DDS replacement market was created when DDS technology manufacturers announced they would not develop the next-generation DDS product, leaving millions of cost-conscious DDS users in need of a new tape storage product alternative like VXA.

VXA-1 tapes drives are available with either SCSI or IDE connectivity, as well as "hot pluggable" FireWire. Exabyte offers three compatible cartridges for the VXA-1, with uncompressed capacities of 12GB, 20GB, and 33 GB. With these options, customers can use tapes matching their storage requirements, allowing for effective management of their costs of ownership. All VXA-1 drives are compatible with UNIX, Windows, Linux, MacOS and other popular operating systems, making installation simple and fast.

"We're pleased to see the medical technology community recognizing the value VXA technology brings to the unique data storage needs of this industry," stated Exabyte's President and CEO, Tom Ward. "We believe VXA is the best alternative to DDS in the market and is a perfect solutions for the small medical office community."
