Top Of The News - Apps & Analytics:Strong Momentum For Oracle9i Database On Intel ItaniumOracle Corp., one of the world's largest enterprise software companies, announced strong momentum for Oracle9i Database on Intel Itanium processors, as validated by the number of developers seeking to build and deploy their ebusiness applications with Oracle database technology on Itanium. Oracle is the leading database provider for 64-bit architecture and the first to offer an early release of its database technology for Itanium-based systems since December 2001. To date, more than 22,000 downloads of Oracle's database technology have been recorded for the Itanium processor from the Oracle Technology Network. Based on the wide-scale support from developers and partners, Oracle today also announced a beta program with end-users, independent software vendors (ISVs) and customers for Oracle9i Database Release 2 on the Windows.NET Server 64-bit operating system. The Oracle beta program on Itanium 2 enables customers and partners to extensively test and validate enterprise-class applications running on Oracle's industry leading database with 64-bit Intelbased hardware. Oracle continues to demonstrate its commitment to provide nextgeneration, multi-platform solutions to customers by offering its developer community a head start on designing leading-edge enterprise applications for Linux64; HP-UX; and Windows.NET Server 64-bit Edition. The three operating systems are based on the Itanium architecture. "Oracle is the leader in 64-bit database technology and was the first to make this technology available for the Itanium processor family developer community," said Doug Kennedy, vice president of Platform Alliances, Platform Technologies Division at Oracle Corp. "As operating systems vendors introduce production releases for the Itanium 2 processor, Oracle will extend its market leadership by providing production releases of our database technology." ENTERPRISE APPLICATION MIGRATION TO 64-BIT ARCHITECTURE As the leader in providing proven database solutions, Oracle enables customers to grow the performance, scalability and availability of their databases on demand, by using Oracle9i Real Application Clusters.
