Top Of The News - Apps & Analytics:AMI Releases Industry's First Low Cost NAS Software SolutionAmerican Megatrends Inc (AMI), a leader in storage and computing innovations worldwide, announced the release of its platform-independent StorTrends "Ready To Go" RTG NAS software version 1.4. This latest NAS software version can be sold separately, and is available for preorder at www.ubuyami.com. The software's MSRP is $299.95. "AMI's StorTrends RTG NAS software retail version 1.4 is the industry's first stand alone network attached storage (NAS) software on the market," said Michael Patellis, AMI national sales manager. "The cost effective storage software allows small to mid-range businesses to efficiently address their rapidly growing storage needs by running AMI's NAS software on any new or existing X86 desktop or server." The platform independent StorTrends NAS software v1.4 can be added to any X86 desktop or server to easily create a low-cost high performance NAS system. AMI's NAS software is FreeBSD-based, with support for Windows, Apple, NetWare, Unix and Linux. It also includes software RAID embedded in the OS and supports industry standard IDE and SCSI controllers. One of the NAS software's key features is AMI's StorTrends NAS Management Station v1.2. The Management Station simplifies the task of configuring and monitoring multiple NAS systems in a network, making them easier to manage. With the Management Station, AMI brings to the low/mid range market NAS manageability features normally found in enterprise class machines selling at considerably higher prices! This Management Station is NT/2000-based and runs on an NT domain server. It saves and restores configuration values, resets to factory default values, installs the SSL certificate by the user, exports an NT user base to all NAS systems, duplicates user information across the NAS and has auto discovery of NAS devices on the network. Mr. Gomaa, president of Mactronics Technology S.r.l, a high-end solution provider of CDC - the leading national PC Brand in Italy - welcomes the new product range of NAS devices. "I (we) choose 'StorTrends RTG' (Ready to Go NAS SW) for its exciting management features that provide both a unique low cost/high volume storage solution and robust/reliable RAID and administration features. In combination with CDC's highly recognized quality PC platforms, the Italian corporate user may feel again the excellence and beauty in using superior American technology with the typical touch of Italian spirit in engineering and custom design." v1.4 features include:Network client support (Microsoft, Unix, Linux, Apple and NetWare)
