Top Of The News - Hardware:U.S. Design Certifies Plasmon's D-Series JukeBoxesPlasmon Corporation and U.S. Design Corporation, a global provider of storage management software, announced that Universal SuperSTOR Version 2.0 (USS v2.0) has been certified to manage Plasmon's D-Series Jukebox libraries, which are comprised of the D120, D240, and D480 respectively. Coupled with Plasmon's dual picker robotics, the bundled solution is capable of storing up to 4.1TB of Data on dual-sided DVD. The JAVA-based software provides D-Series users with a simplified, yet powerful solution to cross-platform data storage. USS v2.0 writes information in industry standard Universal Disk Format (UDF), a format enabling complete data exchange and eliminating proprietary data limitations. This feature makes USS v2.0 truly platform independent, enabling data to be written on one operating system and read in another. Because USS is JAVA-based it is not susceptible to operating system upgrades and can operate on many different platforms. "Plasmon has been recognized as one of the leading suppliers of 12", 5.25", DVD and CD Libraries in the industry. Because of this U.S. Design is extremely delighted to be able to provide support for their entire product line with our Java Powered Universal SuperSTOR Software", stated Mr. Harry Garonzik, president and CEO of U.S. Design Corporation. Mr. Garonzik further stated, "U.S. Design is looking forward to working with the Plasmon Integrators and Resellers in offering a storage management software solution, with Universal SuperSTOR, that will continue to meet the needs of the marketplace for many years to come". Designed for multi-user environments, Plasmon D-Series Libraries provide efficient performance, primarily through the use of its dual-picker robotics. This advanced mechanism allows two discs to be held simultaneously, resulting in rapid exchange times. Using double sided, 4.7GB media, and Plasmon's patented Rotation Station flipper technology, these libraries store from up to 752GB to 4.1TB. "Our customers require a wide range of scalable options to effectively protect their data in the face of rapid growth," commented Robert Clark, vice president of Sales and Marketing at Plasmon. "U.S. Design and Plasmon have continued their close collaboration to launch storage management solutions that protect and provide superior availability to enterprise information assets." |
