LLOYD'S OF LONDON TAPS CommVault GALAXY FOR DATA PROTECTION

CommVault Systems Inc, a provider of unified enterprise data management solutions, has announced that its Galaxy data and storage management software has been selected by Lloyd's of London as its Windows 2000, SQL and Exchange Server data protection standard. At Lloyd's, Galaxy will protect data in both traditional Windows LAN deployments and in Storage Area Network (SAN) architectures.

As part of its software selection process, Lloyd's conducted a rigorous technical and performance review. Key evaluation criteria included: robust media management; software-based intelligent dynamic drive sharing to ensure maximized performance and use of shared storage resources such as tape libraries; speedy recovery of critical data; easy installation and deployment, and support of Lloyd's existing data infrastructure.

"We chose CommVault Galaxy because it provided a superior data protection solution for our enterprise Windows environment," said Paddy Reeves, project manager for Lloyd's. "Galaxy was easy to install and configure, and gives us quick, flexible recovery options, scaled to the size of the data loss. That means we have better availability of our vital data."

The Lloyd's deployment will eventually provide protection for approximately 120 Windows 2000 servers across three Lloyd's sites, allowing consolidated backups of critical data to two conveniently located tape libraries. An additional immediate benefit of the migration to CommVault Galaxy will be the introduction of "single instance" backups for Lloyd's Microsoft Exchange data, a technology that will be utilized at a later date to provide similar protection of SQL databases.

"We are honored that Lloyd's of London has chosen Galaxy as its data protection standard," said Robert Hammer, CEO of CommVault Systems. "Galaxy's unified and seamless data management capabilities, as illustrated in Lloyd's rigorous evaluation process, offers Lloyd's and organizations with similarly complex data environments the chance to reduce the administrative support required to provide business users with the data they need to serve customers without interruption."
