Hitachi Adding Online Storage Service To B2B E-Marketplace

Hitachi Ltd announced that it is teaming up with Xdrive Japan KK to add an online storage service to TWX-21, Japan's largest business-to-business electronic marketplace.

From now on, TWX-21, which is operated by Hitachi, will provide its corporate users with space on the Internet for the easy storage and sharing of huge data sets, such as CAD (computer-aided design) data.

Subscribers will be able to use this Internet-based storage space as if it were located on their own personal computers so they can save and load data. For example, the service will enable groups of companies to share information more efficiently when co-developing products. Also, individual companies will be able to use the service to transfer huge volumes of design data to their factories when first moving into mass production.
