Features - Storage Innovations:eMag SOLUTIONS INTRODUCES NEW TAPE MANAGEMENT SOFTWAREeMag Solutions LLC has announced the addition of the MediaMerge/Tape Management System (MM/TMS) to its line of quality storage products. This software is unique because it optimizes control of removable media storage in open system environments. MM/TMS compliments various backup applications by integrating them with powerful media management tools letting the user track, control and protect removable storage media. Providing complete vault, retention, movement, and location management for media from a single, central location, MM/TMS manages media from any source: mainframe systems, UNIX and Windows. This gives the user instant access to critical information, therefore, enhancing a company's data recovery plan. "Companies are experiencing massive growth in stored data. Managers must make media management a top requirement to eliminate the cost of lost data or failed audits," said Brendan Sullivan, president of eMag. "Regulations such as HIPAA will only increase the amount of electronic data that needs to be managed. With compliance requirements looming, companies need to act now or face possible penalties in the future." With the introduction of MM/TMS, eMag compliments its existing MediaMerge products: MM/Mainframe, MM/PC, MM/UNIX and MM/Connect. MM/Mainframe is a software solution that provides automated tools for copying tapes, migrating to VTS and creating disaster recovery volumes. MM/PC and MM/UNIX software allow the user to restore, archive and duplicate files from virtually any magnetic or optical, SCSI-based drive for PC and UNIX platforms. MM/Connect is a control unit allowing the connection of smaller footprint, lower cost SCSI tape and printer devices to be attached to the mainframe processor within the MVS/390 environment. eMag Solutions is an international organization, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
