CIPRICO AND INCITE ANNOUNCE TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIP

Ciprico Inc and Incite Multimedia Corporation Inc present revolutionary solutions for increasing production workflow in shared storage environments using Ciprico's DiMeda 2400 and new Incite products like Incite Editor 3.0, Incite Remote Producer, and Incite Newsmaker. The combination represents a dramatic step forward in applying mainstream IT concepts towards video/audio production and is ideal for newsrooms, corporate enterprises, and educational facilities because of its cost-effectiveness, expandability, and versatility.

The Ciprico DiMeda 2400, the first of the new line of Digital Media Appliances, is a revolutionary solution that addresses the growing need for shared storage in broadcast and post-production, non-linear editing environments. Ciprico's DiMeda 2400, the world's first Digital Media Appliance, offers high performance media file sharing over Gigabit Ethernet. Traditionally, editors in the broadcast and post-production industry have installed a Storage Area Network (SAN) for online real-time editing applications and a NAS (Network Attached Storage) for offline and non-real-time file sharing applications. The DiMeda 2400 bridges the gap and provides a single solution for both online and offline applications in DV25 video format. It also offers significant cost savings due to the low total cost of ownership and is the first solution to deliver bandwidth performance previously only available from SAN, making it the perfect solution for mid-sized network environments.

The Incite product family offers production houses a total solution for end-to-end production. New products like Incite Remote Producer and Incite Newsmaker are entirely software-based editing applications designed for laptops and PCs, perfect for taking advantage of full motion DV editing on a Gigabit network. In addition, Gigabit is an excellent medium for exchanging projects between Incite applications, bridging Incite's hardware-based editors with software-based editors and applications. For example, Incite editors can cut versions of their projects on Incite Remote Producer or Incite Newsmaker and then open the same project on Incite News, Incite Editor, or Incite HD Suite for final finishing. This ability to exchange projects, transparently preserving metadata between diverse media formats is all due to Incite's unique and dynamic database architecture.

"In reality, the future of video networking is a combination between SAN, NCE, Gigabit Ethernet, and standard 100 Base T Ethernet, giving facilities the ability to choose or combine the solutions that best fit their needs and budget," says Amir Rijavec, Director of Product Management for Incite. "For more than five years we have been pushing the envelop of collaborative workflow using Fibre Channel and our maturity shows in the way we have exploited this resource and fine-tuned our strategies to the benefit of our customers. In this regard, Ciprico's DiMeda lets us take another giant step forward, and the whole concept of the Digital Media Appliance line offers us new freedom."

Ciprico and Incite Multimedia Corporation work closely to provide solutions to the Broadcast markets. Both the companies have carried out extensive tests on the DiMeda 2400 in a multi-seat edit environment running Incite editing applications on multiple workstations.

"The technology partnership with Incite, a premium software innovator in the digital media space, enables us to accelerate the development of new digital media optimization services (DMOS) and implement features which take shared storage to the next level," says Rich Vignes, Director of Marketing for Ciprico. "We're very excited about partnering with Incite. This partnership enables both companies to provide innovative solutions that accelerate the digital media workflow in shared storage environments."
