Xcelerix Embedded In-Memory Database Available On Linux

Xcelerix Corp, a leading developer of embedded database technology, has announced that its patented, Xcelerix Embedded In-Memory Database (IMDB), is now available on the Linux operating platform. Xcelerix's In-Memory Database is specifically designed to support mission-critical applications where high-speed, predictable, real-time data-driven performance and strong reliability are crucial.

"Many companies are moving toward Linux's robust operating system for mission-critical operations," said Chris Dozier, CEO of Xcelerix. "With the availability Xcelerix Embedded In-Memory Database on Linux, we are poised to take our customers into the future of 64-bit, which will allow them to address an unlimited amount of memory. Our latest offering provides companies a supported, unsurpassed, high performance solution that is completely scalable. This gives leading-edge companies the ability to upgrade efficiently and cost-effectively from a free-operating system to an enterprise-level supported system with commodity hardware."

According to IDC, www.idc.com, a leading IT research consultancy, Linux market share within the Web server sector stands at approximately a third and will grow to 41 percent by 2005.

One of Xcelerix's partners, Concurrent Computer Corporation, a supplier of high-end, real-time computer systems and software, is one of many companies adding to the tremendous ground swell of Linux usage for its real-time systems.

"Concurrent has always maintained a commitment to its customers to stay on the leading edge of technology. With the addition of Xcelerix's breakthrough performance database to our computing solutions for simulation and data acquisition, we continue to provide the best and broadest real-time solutions for mission-critical applications that run efficiently on our platforms," said Rob Menzel, vice president of worldwide sales & marketing.

The Xcelerix Embedded IMDB, both 32-bit and 64-bit version, is also available on the following platforms: HP-UX, Stratus, SOLARIS, AIX, Windows 2000 and Windows NT.

The Xcelerix Embedded In-Memory Database's unique, database architecture -- which pre-joins database tables based on known operational queries -- eliminates processing bottlenecks. The more complicated the database, the faster the Xcelerix IMDB becomes. As a result, Xcelerix performs 10 to 100 times faster than other in-memory databases and 100 to 1,000 times faster than traditional disk-based databases.

"We're excited to offer companies an easy and affordable way to upgrade to 64-bit architecture and ultimately, a big, fast database," notes Dozier. "Without a doubt, 64-bit will dramatically improve the landscape, taking away all rigid technology limitations. Now, system integrators employing an embedded In-Memory Database can create applications that give them and their customer a competitive advantage with unsurpassed performance levels."
