Short Takes - People & Positions:

Datalink Appoints Tom Sylvester As New CIO

Datalink Corporation has announced the appointment of Thomas Sylvester as the company's new chief information officer (CIO.) He will be overseeing Datalink's overall IT strategic direction and initiatives. Sylvester will also work closely with customers and vendors to gather insight about their needs and share his expertise of the information storage industry.

Sylvester has been with Datalink for five years, most recently holding the position of senior director of technical services. Before Datalink, Tom served in various roles within IT at Motorola Inc, with a focus on storage management.

"Tom brings to this position a unique understanding of user needs and how to meet them through technology and process," said Dan Kinsella, vice president of finance and chief financial officer, Datalink. "As CIO, Tom will help Datalink develop new information capabilities."

"The alignment of people, process and technology is something Datalink has been doing for quite some time in the areas of storage and storage management," said Sylvester. "Working with many customers during the last five years here at Datalink has given me a distinct perspective of the impact technology has on the bottom line of a business."
