Features - Storage Innovations:PoINT JUKEBOX MANAGER SUPPORT FOR TeraCart SERIES LIBRARIESASACA Corporation, a leading developer of high-capacity, high-performance data storage solutions, has announced that PoINT Jukebox Manager Version 4.0 from PoINT Software & Systems GmbH, supports ASACA's award-winning line of TeraCart (DVD-RAM/R Digital Virtual Libraries (DVLs)). Beyond transparent read/write access, Jukebox Manager 4.0 now provides volume sets and media spanning, Universal Disk Format (UDF) support as well as the logical "partitioning" of entire library volumes. Combined with TeraCart's flexible, fully automated, near-line archival and retrieval capabilities, Jukebox Manager 4.0 assures networked environments seamless support, enhanced security and simultaneous multiple user access to files of any capacity. With a transfer rate of 2.78MB/sec, the ability to have up to 24 drives online simultaneously, ASACA's TeraCart offers nearly 14TB of scaleable storage and the freedom to mix CD, DVD video and DVD-RAM disks within a single library cabinet. Integrating PoINT's Jukebox Manager into the Windows operating system kernel of the library, ensures seamless support for network clients providing enhanced security and permission control of Windows active for shared files. "Combined with our TeraCart libraries, PoINT's Jukebox Manager 4.0 supports enterprises with near-line access to massive amounts of information using an affordable, scaleable, high speed data management tool," said Chuck Larabie, ASACA's director of sales and marketing. "The software's broad list of features including: transparent file access, UDF support and volume spanning, can turn even mammoth data sets into quickly accessed, easily shared information." PoINT Jukebox Manager also allows multiple users to access the TeraCart simultaneously and to record diverse data streams to various media sources concurrently. Formatting and writing using standard UDF enables Windows, Mac & UNIX clients to share authorized files and media in mixed OS environments, as well as outside the network. The volume set and file spanning functionality of PoINT's software allows flexible partitioning to be set from media count up to multiple magazines providing nearly endless data storage possibilities for broad range of applications. "ASACA provides the largest capacity, and drive count of any of the 120 mm hardware vendors," said Michelle Schmidt, US Sales Manager for PoINT Software. "In combination with PoINT's offline data management and bar code support, the TeraCart's removable bar coded magazines provide a solid, easily accessible storage solution for offline data. Our combined technologies provide an exceptional value and return on investment."
