Top Of The News - Networking:NEC OEMs Vixel SwitchVixel Corporation, a leading provider of storage networking products and technologies, announced recently that NEC Corporation's Client and Server (CAS) Division will OEM Vixel's InSpeed-based Model 315 switch into clustering solutions in low and mid-level IA Clustering platform offerings. NEC expects to begin shipping these solutions equipped with the InSpeed-based Model 315 switch to the Japanese market in October of 2002. "NEC's implementation of our InSpeed-based Model 315 switch in a front-end configuration to enable server clustering, emphasizes the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of InSpeed technology," said Jim McCluney, president and CEO of Vixel Corporation. "We are excited that our long standing relationship with NEC has now been extended to include InSpeed. InSpeed is a highly pliable technology and NEC's use of the Model 315 switch in IA platform-based clustering solutions constitutes a new application for InSpeed technology." NEC's IA Clustering platform is made up of a suite of powerful data storage and management products which provide mission-critical, centrally managed storage solutions for low, mid-range and high-end applications. The Vixel Model 315 is a 12-port 2Gb/s Fibre Channel switch that employs the Company's award-winning InSpeed technology. |
