Features - Storage Innovations:PACIFIC DIGITAL INTRODUCES TWO EXTERNAL USB STORAGE PRODUCTSPacific Digital Corporation, a leader in storage and multimedia solutions, introduced two external USB 2.0 storage products at COMDEX this year. The new products are a fast 52X CD burner and a hard disk drive (HDD) kit, available with 120, 80 or 60GB. The Pacific Digital Xtreme52 is a 52x24x52 USB 2.0 burner - and the fastest CD-RW drive available. It can create an 80-minute audio CD in less than three minutes. The Xtreme52 features advanced CAV writing technology and SMART-BURN buffer underrun protection to ensure trouble-free burns. It also supports UDMA mode 2 for maximum performance. The Xtreme52 is bundled with Nero CD-Recording software. Functions included are IN-CD packet writing, Nero Wave Editor, Advanced Nero Cover Designer, Nero MPEG1 Video Encoder, VCD Menu Creation, Embedded Nero API (Application Program Interface), and Nero Toolkit, among others. An internal version, the Mach52 IDE model, has features similar to the Xtreme52. The Xtreme52 is priced at $149 MSRP, and the Mach52 is priced at $99 MSRP. They will ship in December. Pacific Digital's external USB 2.0 120, 80 and 60GB hard disk drive kits offer transfer rates of up to 48MB/s. The sleek, new HDD is an ideal backup tool for internal hard drives and is compatible with both Macs and PCs. Multiple drives can be added to increase storage capacity. It comes in a compact, lightweight, durable enclosure. The kit consists of the hard drive, six-foot USB 2.0 cable, AC adapter, installation software, and Quick Install Guide. The kits are priced at $269 for 120GB; $199 for 80GB; and $179for 60GB. They will ship in December. These products are available from prominent retailers.
