VERITAS SOFTWARE ACQUIRES NTP SOFTWARE'S STORAGE REPORTER

VERITAS Software Corporation, a leading storage software provider, announced recently that it has acquired NTP Software's Storage Reporter, a storage reporting product that gives IT managers a detailed view of their enterprise storage usage and more control over storage management and its associated costs. Storage Reporter will complement VERITAS Software's storage resource management (SRM) offering, VERITAS SANPoint Control, and enable IT managers to track and plan storage usage by users, departments, applications, file types or geography. These features will not only help CIOs to better predict future storage growth patterns, but will also give them the ability to charge-back storage costs, creating department-level accountability for ever-growing storage needs and costs.

The business-focused reporting capabilities of Storage Reporter will be integrated with the active management features of VERITAS SANPoint Control, a software solution that enables companies to automate the management of diverse storage devices and platforms from an application-centric viewpoint. VERITAS SANPoint Control plays an integral role in the VERITAS Adaptive Software Architecture, a flexible, software-centric model designed to reduce the complexity and costs of managing storage environments.

The terms of the agreement between NTP Software and VERITAS Software were not disclosed.
