LSI Logic And Nishan Announce Cert Of IP Storage Switches

LSI Logic Storage Systems Inc, a technology leader in high performance, highly scalable storage for the open enterprise, and Nishan Systems, the world's first supplier of native IP storage solutions, have announced that Nishan IPS 3300 and IPS 4300 IP storage switches successfully completed extensive testing in the LSI Logic Storage Systems Certified Compatible program. This certification assures interoperability between the two companies' products under a variety of configurations, enabling customers to quickly and reliably deploy SAN (storage area network) solutions using both Fibre Channel and mainstream IP networking.

Nishan and LSI Logic Storage Systems conducted the testing and certification of Nishan's IPS 3300 and IPS 4300 IP storage switches with storage systems in multiple configurations in LSI Logic's interoperability lab. "By demonstrating a broad level of compatibility between the companies' products, Nishan and LSI Logic are easing the implementation process necessary for successful SAN deployment and are enabling new storage solutions using IP networking," said Mark Hicks, vice president of alliances and business development, Nishan Systems. Nishan IP Storage switches support Fibre Channel switching, Gigabit Ethernet switching, and wire-speed conversion between Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. Interfaces can be configured to support iSCSI end systems, Fibre Channel end systems, or Fibre Channel SANs. The multi-protocol switches also support, via iSCSI or iFCP, remote storage links of any distance across high-speed IP networks. They can be used to connect existing Fibre Channel SANs through a standard E-Port interface or to build an IP SAN fabric that integrates Fibre Channel and iSCSI devices with data center, metro-area, or wide-area IP networks.
